About
The Print Collection is a pairing of a connected script typeface, Print Script, and its serif companion, Print. The collection explores the intersection of calligraphic tradition and typographic structure, balancing the rhythm of the hand with the precision of digital drawing.
Print Script is loosely based on copperplate calligraphy, but deliberately moves away from replicating the style in its purest form. Straight connectors, simplified letterforms (r, s, z), and a rejection of traditional looping ascenders and descenders give the typeface a distinctly typographic character. This blend of human flow and mechanical structure is heightened by the variable design space: Print spans two axes, weight (Hairline to Black) and optical size (Display to Slab), allowing it to move seamlessly from high-contrast elegance to low-contrast slab-like solidity. OpenType features enable expressive possibilities, including swash capitals, ligatures, flourishing alternates, and the ability to toggle between connected and unconnected forms in the script styles.
The serif counterpart, Print, was designed in tandem with the script. A slightly condensed roman with a pointed-pen influence, Print complements the script with proportions that are flexible for both text and display. The relationship between the two families creates a cohesive system: Print provides clarity and structure, while Print Script offers ornament and expression.
Together, the Print Collection supports 93 languages, including Vietnamese, and is designed to offer a wide breadth of typographic voices from restrained text settings to expressive, flourished compositions.
