About Us
Faire Type is a Brooklyn-based type foundry working at the intersection of graphic design and type design. Launched in 2023 by American designer, Sabrina Nacmias and French designer, Maxime Gau, Faire Type is the result of a decade-long partnership and shared love of letterforms.
Sabrina and Maxime started their careers in the collaborative and fast-paced world of branding and graphic design, and now use that experience to create typefaces that are well-suited to contemporary design projects.
Built on the foundations of historical knowledge, formal exploration and precise technical execution, Faire Type typefaces are made to stand out while being versatile and easy to use. In addition to their retail font catalog, Faire Type also partners with agencies, studios, designers and brands to design custom fonts, logotypes, symbols and iconography systems.
Faire Type has been recognized by international design competitions and publications, and notably were a recipient of the 2023 TDC Ascenders Award, and the prestigous Young Guns Award by The One Club.

Custom Type
In addition to our retail catalog of typefaces, we also work with brands and agencies to create custom typefaces and logotypes. With years of experience as branding designers, we understand the power that custom typography and bespoke logotypes can give to a brand.
We’re comfortable iterating with you from concept stage, or jumping on a project later on to help take it to the finish line.

Licensing Philosophy
Overview
We have a simple approach to licensing our typefaces. We offer 3 license types: desktop, web, and app licenses, and our pricing is based on one simple metric: company size. Please read our Licensing Agreement for more information.
Company-Sized Approach
Instead of requiring you to calculate how many monthly views your website gets, or how many computers or people will need to install the fonts, we only need one number from you: the size of your company. We think this is the most accurate and fair way to determine how much our fonts should cost.
The Company is the License Holder
As graphic designers, we’ve spent many years licensing fonts for projects for our clients and we came to the conclusion that company that uses the fonts should be the one that holds the license. That means we don’t require designers to own a license to use the fonts to create work for their clients — they’re covered under their client’s license.
License Types
Desktop License
A Desktop License permits You to install and use “Desktop Fonts” on a Computer only. Desktop Fonts are provided in the .OTF file format and should only be used on a Computer. You are not permitted to use Desktop Fonts on a Website, or Embed Desktop Fonts in an application, ebook, or game.
Web License
A Website License permits You to host and use “Web Fonts” on web servers under Your control, and under the control of a singular organization, for a single Website. Web Fonts are provided in .WOFF2 file formats and should only be used on the web. You are not permitted to install the Web Fonts on a Computer, or Embed the Web Fonts in an app, ebook or game.
App License
An App license permits You to Embed the App Fonts into an application (“app”), ebook or game. App Fonts are provided in the .OTF file format and should only be used Embedded in an app, ebook, or game. You are not permitted to install the App Fonts on a Computer, or use the App Fonts on a Website.
Student License
To purchase a student license and receive the student discount from our website, you must be a participating student member of an educational institution. You may use the fonts that you purchase with your student license for projects related to your studies and also for personal projects. For commercial projects your client will need to be the license holder and purchase the correct license that corresponds to how they will use the fonts and the size of their company, regardless of your status as a student. After you finish your studies, you can continue to use the fonts you purchased as a student for personal driven projects until your company size increases and you need to upgrade your license tier.
Trial License
Trial Fonts are fonts that are provided free of charge by Faire Type to users for testing and trial purposes only. Trial Fonts may be used to create test visualizations, presentations, and pitches, for use within your company. Trial Fonts may be used in both paid and unpaid pitches for clients the purpose of trial and testing and to demonstrate the potential use of the Trial Fonts. You may not use the Trial Fonts in any final files for any project, commercial or non-commercial. If You wish to use the Trial Fonts for commercial purposes or for anything that spans beyond the scope of testing, You must purchase the appropriate license from Faire Type.

Pricing Philosophy
Font Family Discounts
We’re designers first, and we understand that in almost every design you’re going to need more than one weight of a font. In many cases you’re going to want the whole family. For this reason, we created a discount stacking system — the more styles you add, the more $ you save.
Student Discounts
Students can purchase our fonts with a 75% discount. Students can produce non-commercial and self-initiated commercial work with these fonts during the duration of their studies and continue to use the fonts after they graduate until they grow out of their company size tier.
Company Size Metric
In smaller companies often people will be wearing many hats — for example, in a small non-profit maybe all 8 employees will need access to their brand fonts to be able to create documents and assets. However, a much bigger online storefront with hundreds of employees, might have a design team of 3 full time designers that handle all their visual communication. So we don’t think it makes sense to charge by number of computers using the fonts. Using company size as a pricing metric is a much more fair guage of how much value the font is bringing to the brand.
Using our Fonts
Installing Desktop Fonts
To install desktop fonts (files ending in .otf) on a mac computer, you can open the fonts you would like to install with Font Book, and click install.
To install desktop fonts on a pc, right click on the fonts you would like to install and select install.
Hosting Web Fonts
You can host web fonts (files ending in .woff2) on web servers under your control by using @font-face technology. You can use this code as a reference:
@fontface {
font-family: “FAIRE Sprig Sans”;
src: url(“/fonts/FAIRE-SprigSans-Regular.woff2”) format(“woff2”); }
Embedding App Fonts
We offer .otf files for embedding into App projects. If you plan on hosting your fonts on a server and not embedding the fonts, please contact us to receive .woff2 files. Most modern App software and developer tools will support the embedding of .otf files, but if you need .ttf files please contact us and we can provide them.
OpenType Features
A lot of our fonts have special features and characters that can be accessed via OpenType features. You can explore what OpenType features are available for each typeface by visiting the page of the typeface on our website and clicking into a typetester. There you can activate different features.
Using OpenType Features on the Web
To activate OpenType features on the web, you can select which feature you’d like to use, and then activate with the following css code:
#myproject {
font-feature-settings: “‘ss04’ 1”; }
Using OpenType Features on Adobe
In Adobe Illustrator go to Window > Type > OpenType, and in the bottom right corner you can activate the different stylistic sets.
In Adobe Indesign go to Window > Type & Tables > Character and click the hamburger menu in the top right corner. There you can select OpenType features.
